This is a link to some of the large paintings of villages that my mother did. Several of these are Greenwich workshop limited edition prints (Charlottesville, Chowdertown, Curve in the Square,My Island, and Market Day.)
Much of the painting, amazingly, is purely imaginary in these cases…although, in many instances, something began the process of creativity. For example, in Curve in the Square, we visited Baltimore and Philadelphia and saw similar street scenes. The pink and green mimosa in front of the pink and green rowhouse was especially memorable.
In Seaside Village, there are a few warehouses inspired by a trip to Fall River, Massachusetts. They also featured in earlier, smaller paintings.
This shows the whole painting.
Detail of the warehouses. The people are invented…we saw large wine bottles in baskets like that in Italy!
